I stumbled across this recipe for muslie bars, and found it to be a wonderful snack! High in calcium and protein, and lots of energy. Plus, it’s got so much healthy stuff in it, you can forgive yourself for chomping down 2 or 5….
Blissed Bars.
Suitable for older toddlers, who are able to eat honey. The honey can be substituted with Rice Syrup if you wish.
Ingredients
1 cup puffed millet or rice
½ cup organic desiccated coconut
½ cup sesame seeds
½ cup sunflower seeds
½ cup bio organic honey
½ cup tahini
1 cup almond meal or L.S.A (linseeds, sunflower seeds, almonds) meal
1 cup chopped nuts (almonds, cashews, brazil, hazelnuts pecans)
1 cup chopped dried fruit, sulphur- free
Method
combine the dry ingredients in a blender and whizz.
Gradually add the tahini and the honey.
Press into a lined slice tin, and sprinkle with either Coconut, or Sesame seeds.
Slice into bars
Bake in a moderate oven until golden brown (approx 20 minutes)
These bars can be frozen, just wrap them in greaseproof paper!
